Tom Sasso had a highly successful college hockey career at Babson College from 1984 to 1988, leading the team to a remarkable 85-34-2 record over four seasons. A gifted athlete, he is considered one of the best hockey players in the program’s history. He was a three-time All-American, earning All-American, All-East, and ECAC All-Star honors from 1986 to 1988. In 1987, Sasso was a Top 10 Finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. His 229 career points (99 goals, 130 assists) remain the most by any player in Babson ice hockey history. In his final season, he was also named the New England Division III Male Athlete of the Year.
Following his college career, Sasso was drafted in the 10th round of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft by the Quebec Nordiques. He went on to play five years of minor league hockey, accumulating a total of 135 goals and 228 assists for 363 points in 238 career games. His professional experience included time in the ECHL with the Johnstown Chiefs and Knoxville Cherokees, and in the CoHL with the Flint Bulldogs. Sasso was later inducted into the Babson Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993.
