Jack Eichel
For the first time in 22 years, a college freshman, Jack Eichel (IKE-ul) won the coveted Hobey Baker Award. The 18-year old rookie sensation had a fantastic season leading the nation in points (71), assists (45), power play points (23) and plus-minus (+51) in 40 games. He helped his Terrier squad to a berth in the national championship game and finished the season with a flurry bagging 8 goals and 8 assists in 8 playoff games. Eichel started the season as a 17-year old, collected two goals and two assists in his first college hockey game and continued by recording points in 10 consecutive games (7 goals, 12 assists) to open his college career. A fluid, effortless skater, Eichel made everyone around him successful with his uncanny hockey sense, regularly setting up teammates. In addition to the Hobey, Jack was honored with a plethora of awards: Hockey East Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, conference scoring champion, First Team Hockey East and a member of the All-Rookie Team, Most Valuable Player at the Hockey East playoff tournament, National Rookie of the Year by the Hockey Commissioners Association and a First Team All American by the Hockey Coaches Association. Jack is enrolled in the College of General Studies. He spends off-ice time mentoring an 11-year old brain cancer patient and helps out with the Terriers team partnership with Autism Speaks. Eichel was drafted second overall in 2015 by Buffalo and finished second in scoring on the Sabres with 24 goals and 56 points in 81 games in his rookie season. Eichel played six seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, was their team captain, and recorded 355 points in 375 career games, elevating his status as one of the NHL’s premiere players. After completing six seasons in Buffalo, Eichel was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights in November of 2021. In 2022-23, Eichel helped lead the Golden Knights to the franchise’s first Stanley Cup championship, and just completed his fifth season with VGK while finishing thirteenth in the NHL in scoring.

McIntyre has already become UNDs all-time leader in career goals against average and save percentage. He has been named First Team NCHC and is a finalist for Player of the Year honors as well as a second time finalist for Goalie of the Year. He has played in all but one game this season for North Dakota and ranks as the third busiest goalie in the nation.

Harvard’s first Hobey finalist in ten years had a huge season, winning the ECAC scoring title while piling up 58 points. He also leads the nation with 32 goals. Vesey (VEE-see) was off to the races early, earning points in each of the first 20 games of the season and produced points in 34 of the 37 games he played in. Saving his best for last, Vesey had 10 goals and 4 assists in 8 playoff games, including three game winning goals. He was the ECAC Player of the Year and First Team all-conference. He Had 32 goals, 26 assists for 58 points in 37 games for the season. He ranks 3rd in the nation in points at the end of the Harvard Season. Vesey won the Walter Brown Award as the top American born player in New England. He speaks fluent Mandarin and is a Government major. He was the Nashville draft pick in the 3rd round. Off the ice he assists with Special Olympics.
