During his collegiate hockey career from 2021 to 2025, Liam McLinskey developed into one of the most prolific offensive players in college hockey. He began his NCAA journey at Quinnipiac University in 2021–22 before transferring to College of the Holy Cross prior to his sophomore year. Over three standout seasons with the Crusaders, McLinskey accumulated 116 points (58 goals, 58 assists) in 114 games. His collegiate path peaked during a stellar 2023–24 junior season, where he registered 47 points (27 goals, 20 assists) in 38 games to lead Atlantic Hockey in scoring and capture Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year, Individual Scoring Champion, and AHCA East Second Team All-American honors. He maintained high-level production in his 2024–25 senior campaign, posting 42 points in 36 games while serving as team captain and earning Hobey Baker Award nomination. Throughout his collegiate career, McLinskey remained actively committed to team service and community initiatives, including:
