During his collegiate hockey career from 2022 to 2026, Charlie Stramel spent four seasons in the Big Ten, beginning with two years at the University of Wisconsin before transferring to Michigan State University in April 2024. At Wisconsin (2022–2024), he appeared in 67 games and posted 20 points (8 goals, 12 assists). Upon joining Michigan State for his junior campaign in 2024–25, Stramel revitalized his game, recording 27 points in 37 games. He followed that with a dominant 2025–26 senior season for the Spartans, posting 44 points (19 goals, 25 assists) in 37 games while establishing himself as one of the premier two-way power centers in the country. Off the ice, Stramel remained dedicated to community involvement and team initiatives throughout his college tenure, including:
- Youth Hockey Clinics: Volunteering at local youth hockey development sessions and skating clinics in both Madison and East Lansing.
- Spartan & Badger Athletics Outreach: Participating in athletic department community engagement programs and visits to local schools and hospitals.
- Youth Mentorship: Supporting youth-focused charitable initiatives and community outreach events across campus.
