Thomas Pöck was an outstanding defenseman for the University of Massachusetts Amherst Minutemen from 2000 to 2004. In his senior season, 2003-2004, he had a stellar year, recording 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points in 37 games. His impressive performance earned him a Top 10 nomination for the Hobey Baker Award. He was also named a First-Team All-American and the Hockey East Player of the Year, the first player from UMass Amherst to receive the honor.
Following his collegiate career, Pöck was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Rangers. He played in 118 NHL games with the Rangers and the New York Islanders. He spent the majority of his North American career in the AHL, where he was a productive offensive defenseman, including a 61-point season in 2005-2006. After his time in North America, Pöck returned to Europe, where he played in the Swedish and Swiss leagues before finishing his career in his native Austria.
