Peter Ciavaglia was a highly accomplished collegiate hockey player for Harvard University from 1987 to 1991. He was a prolific scorer, leading the ECAC in scoring twice and finishing his career ranked fourth in career points for the school with 194. Ciavaglia was a key member of the 1989 team that won the NCAA national championship. His stellar performance was recognized in his senior year when he was named ECAC Player of the Year, a Second-Team All-American, and a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, an honor given to the top player in NCAA Division I men’s hockey.

After college, Ciavaglia, who had been drafted by the Calgary Flames, went on to have a long professional career primarily in minor leagues. He played in 5 NHL games with the Buffalo Sabres. Most of his professional career was spent in the AHL and IHL, where he was a standout player. He was named the AHL co-rookie of the year and was a key member of the Detroit Vipers team that won the Turner Cup in 1997, where he was named the playoff MVP. Ciavaglia also represented the United States at the 1994 Winter Olympics.
