Jim Fahey was a standout defenseman for Northeastern University from 1998 to 2002. As a senior in the 2001-02 season, he was a dominant force, setting a single-season school record for points by a defenseman with 46 points on 14 goals and 32 assists in 39 games. He was named a First-Team All-American, the Walter Brown Award winner, and earned a top-ten nomination for the Hobey Baker Award. Fahey finished his collegiate career as one of only five defensemen in Northeastern history to score 100 career points, finishing with a total of 111.

Following his college career, Fahey was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in 1998. After spending a short time in the AHL, he was called up to the Sharks in the 2002-03 season, where he was named the team’s Rookie of the Year. He went on to play parts of four seasons in the NHL with the Sharks and the New Jersey Devils, tallying 25 points in 92 games. He also played internationally for Team USA at the 2003 World Championships. Fahey later played professionally in Germany before retiring.
