Jay McNeill had an impressive college hockey career at Colorado College from 1992 to 1996. A high-scoring forward, he was an All-American and a key part of the program’s turnaround under coach Don Lucia. In his junior season (1994-95), McNeill was one of the nation’s top goal scorers and was named a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. His offensive production increased each year, and he helped lead Colorado College to three consecutive WCHA championships and an appearance in the 1996 NCAA championship game. He finished his collegiate career with 189 points in 158 games.
After college, McNeill played professionally in both North America and Europe. He started his career in the ECHL with the Richmond Renegades and Columbus Chill. In 1998, he moved to Europe and spent most of the next decade playing in Germany’s lower leagues, where he was a prolific scorer. He also played for the Tilburg Trappers in the Netherlands, helping the team win a Dutch league championship in 2001. McNeill retired from playing in 2009.
