Dany Heatley was an electrifying offensive talent for the University of Wisconsin from 1999 to 2001. As a sophomore in the 2000-01 season, he was a dominant force, leading the Badgers with 59 points on 24 goals and 35 assists in 39 games. His exceptional performance earned him a top-ten nomination for the Hobey Baker Award. That same year, he was named a First-Team All-American and was also a finalist for the Hockey East Player of the Year award.

After his collegiate career, Heatley was drafted 2nd overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He would go on to have a successful 14-season professional career, playing for the Thrashers, Ottawa Senators, San Jose Sharks, Minnesota Wild, and Anaheim Ducks. He won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year in 2002 and was a five-time NHL All-Star. Heatley was also a key member of Team Canada, winning two gold medals at the Winter Olympics in 2010 and 2014, and two World Championship gold medals.
