Dan Boyle was a standout defenseman for Miami University from 1994 to 1998. He was a two-time All-American and was named the CCHA’s Best Offensive Defenseman in 1998. His impressive senior season culminated in being a Hobey Baker Award finalist. He finished his four-year collegiate career with 147 points in 148 games, a testament to his offensive prowess from the blueline.
Despite going undrafted, Boyle had a long and successful professional career in the NHL, spanning 17 seasons. He played for the Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, San Jose Sharks, and New York Rangers, winning the Stanley Cup with the Lightning in 2004. He also won an Olympic Gold Medal with Team Canada at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He retired in 2016, having played 1,093 NHL games and accumulating 605 career points.
