Brian Wiseman had a successful four-year college hockey career at the University of Michigan from 1990 to 1994. During his time as a Wolverine, he was a key offensive contributor, earning multiple honors, including being named the CCHA Rookie of the Year in 1991. Wiseman’s senior season in 1993-94 was particularly noteworthy, as he was a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award and earned First-Team All-American honors. He led the team in scoring that season with 69 points (19 goals, 50 assists). He finished his college career with a school-record 164 assists and 248 points, ranking him among the program’s all-time leading scorers.
After college, Wiseman played professionally in various leagues. He appeared in three NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 1996-97 season, but spent the majority of his career in the minor leagues. He had a notable career in the International Hockey League (IHL), where he was a standout for the Houston Aeros. In the 1998-99 season, he was the IHL’s leading scorer and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player, while also helping the Aeros win the Turner Cup. Following his playing career, Wiseman transitioned to coaching, holding positions at both the collegiate and professional levels, including an assistant coach role with the San Jose Sharks.
