Shawn Horcoff played college hockey for four seasons at Michigan State University from 1996 to 2000. In his final season as a captain, he had a career-best year, leading the Spartans with 65 points on 14 goals and 51 assists in 42 games. His performance earned him several honors, including the CCHA Player of the Year, the CCHA’s Best Defensive Forward, and a First-Team All-American selection. He was also a top-ten finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award in 2000.
After a successful college career, Horcoff was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers and went on to have a long and productive NHL career spanning 1,008 regular-season games over 15 seasons. He played for the Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars, and Anaheim Ducks. Horcoff was a key player for the Oilers, serving as their captain for three seasons, and helped the team reach the Stanley Cup Final in 2006. He finished his career with 511 points, scoring 186 goals and adding 325 assists.
