Sean McCann was a dominant defenseman for Harvard University from 1990 to 1994. In his senior season, he was named team captain and had an exceptional year, scoring 22 goals, which remains a school record for a defenseman. His standout performance earned him First-Team All-American honors and made him a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. McCann also played a crucial role in helping Harvard win three consecutive ECAC championships and reach the NCAA Frozen Four in 1994. He finished his collegiate career with 70 points in 120 games.

After his collegiate career, McCann was drafted first overall in the final NHL Supplemental Draft in 1994 by the Florida Panthers. Although he never played in the NHL, he had a seven-year professional career, primarily in the minor leagues. He played in the AHL and IHL, with teams such as the Cincinnati Cyclones and the Houston Aeros. Following his retirement from playing in 2001, McCann returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach for seven years before becoming the head coach at Saint Sebastian’s School.
