Scott Beattie was a highly productive forward for Northern Michigan University from 1989 to 1992. Despite his small size, he quickly became a dominant offensive force. In his sophomore season, he led the entire NCAA in scoring with 48 goals and 89 points, earning him the WCHA Player of the Year award. That season, he was a key contributor to the Wildcats’ 1991 NCAA championship and was named the NCAA Tournament MVP. His impressive play was recognized with Hobey Baker Award nominations in both 1991 and 1992, solidifying his place among the top players in college hockey.

Following his junior season, Beattie turned pro but went undrafted in the NHL. His professional career, which spanned from 1992 to 2005, was spent primarily in Europe. He played in various European leagues, including those in Italy, Germany, and Switzerland, as well as for the Italian national team. He had brief stints in North American minor leagues like the AHL and ECHL before returning to Europe. After retiring as a player, Beattie transitioned into coaching, holding positions with teams in both North America and Europe. He was inducted into the Northern Michigan University Hall of Fame in 2003.
