David Sacco played college hockey at Boston University from 1988 to 1993. He established himself as one of the premier offensive players in the program’s history, ranking second on the all-time points list with 217 at the time of his induction into the school’s athletic hall of fame. Sacco was a two-time First-Team All-American and a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award in his senior season, 1992-93. That year, he led the team in goals, assists, and points and helped the Terriers reach the NCAA Tournament championship game. He also represented the United States at the 1994 Winter Olympics.
After his college career, Sacco was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs and played in 35 NHL games with the Maple Leafs and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim between 1994 and 1996. He also played in the minor leagues, including the AHL and IHL, with teams like the Baltimore Bandits and San Diego Gulls. His professional career also included a season in Switzerland with SC Bern before he retired from playing in 1998.
