Derek Edwardson was a standout forward for the Miami University RedHawks from 2000 to 2004. In his senior season, he was named team captain and had a career year with 17 goals and 31 assists for 48 points. His impressive performance earned him a Top 10 nomination for the Hobey Baker Award in 2004. He was also honored as the CCHA Player of the Year and a Second-Team All-American by the AHCA. That same year, he was named Miami University’s Male Athlete of the Year and was later inducted into the Miami University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017.

After his collegiate career, Edwardson played professionally for nine seasons. He spent time in the AHL and ECHL before continuing his career in Europe, playing six seasons in Italy and Germany. He finished his playing career representing Team Italy in the 2012 World Championships. Following his retirement from playing, he returned to coaching, including a stint as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Miami University. He is currently a director and coach with the Indiana State Hockey Association.
