Michel LaRocque was a collegiate goaltender for the Boston University Terriers from 1995 to 1999. In his final season, he was a key part of a team that won the Beanpot and reached the NCAA Tournament. LaRocque’s stellar performance in 1998-99 earned him a top-ten nomination for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award. He was also named a Second-Team All-American and a First-Team All-Hockey East selection. Over his four years at Boston University, he helped the team win the 1997 Hockey East championship and four consecutive Beanpot titles.
After being drafted by the San Jose Sharks in 1996, LaRocque was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in 1999 following his collegiate career. He played in just three NHL games with the Blackhawks during the 2000-01 season. The majority of his professional career was spent in the minor leagues, including time in the AHL, ECHL, and IHL. LaRocque retired from playing in 2001 and has since become a coach. He has run his own goaltender training company and in 2025, he joined the University of Delaware as a volunteer goalie coach.
