Martin St. Louis played college hockey at the University of Vermont from 1993 to 1997. He was a prolific scorer, becoming a three-time All-American and a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award in 1996 and 1997. St. Louis holds the school’s all-time record for points with 267 and assists with 176. His offensive production helped lead the Catamounts to the ECAC championship in 1996.

After going undrafted in the NHL, St. Louis signed with the Calgary Flames in 1998 but was later released. His career took off after signing with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2000. He went on to become one of the most dynamic players of his era, winning the Stanley Cup in 2004, the Hart Memorial Trophy as league MVP, two Art Ross Trophies as the leading scorer, and three Lady Byng Memorial Trophies. He finished his 16-season NHL career with 1,033 points in 1,134 games and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018.
