Jamie Ram was a standout goaltender for Michigan Technological University from 1990 to 1994. He set the school records for career saves (3,336) and games played (115) during his four years with the Huskies. He was a two-time All-American, earning the honor in both 1993 and 1994, and was also a two-time All-Western Collegiate Hockey Association First Team selection. His stellar play in his senior season, which included a .912 save percentage, earned him a spot as a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.

After his collegiate career, Jamie Ram played professionally for nine years. He was drafted by the New York Rangers in 1991 and played one NHL game with the team during the 1995-96 season. The majority of his professional career was spent in the minor leagues, including the AHL and IHL, with teams like the Binghamton Rangers and Kentucky Thoroughblades. He also spent time playing in Europe and Japan before his retirement in 2004.
