Dean Fedorchuk played college hockey for the University of Alaska Fairbanks from 1990 to 1994. He was an incredibly productive player, leaving the program as its all-time leading goal scorer and second all-time in career points. In his senior season, 1993-94, Fedorchuk tied for the NCAA scoring title with 74 points, with 42 goals and 32 assists. His outstanding performance earned him First-Team All-American honors and a spot as a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. He was inducted into the Nanook Hall of Fame in 2014.
After college, Fedorchuk’s professional career spanned 14 years, with most of it spent in Europe. He had a brief stint in North America with the Kalamazoo Wings of the IHL and the Dayton Bombers of the ECHL. However, he found his greatest success in Germany and Denmark, winning two German second-division championships and a Danish championship. He was also named the German second-division Player of the Year in 1996 and the Danish League Playoffs MVP in 2006. Following his playing career, he transitioned to coaching and scouting, including a role as a pro scout for the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets from 2011 to 2013.
