Brian Rolston was a dominant player for Lake Superior State University from 1991 to 1993. As a freshman, he scored the game-winning goal in the NCAA National Championship game, earning Most Outstanding Player honors. In his sophomore season (1992-93), he had a stellar year with 35 goals and 36 assists, which made him a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. After his second season, he left college to join Team USA for the 1994 Winter Olympics.
Following his time with Team USA, Rolston embarked on a successful professional career that spanned 17 seasons in the NHL. Drafted by the New Jersey Devils, he won a Stanley Cup with the team in 1995. Known for his powerful slap shot, Rolston played for five different NHL teams, including notable stints with the Minnesota Wild and Boston Bruins. He had his most productive offensive season in 2005-06 with the Wild, scoring a career-high 79 points. Rolston also represented the United States in international play, winning a silver medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics. He retired from professional hockey in 2012.
