Countdown to Hobey:

Tanner Hickman

2020 | Colorado | COED

Arapahoe Varsity | Warriors | COED

Tanner has been dedicated to the sport of hockey since he learned to skate at about 4 years old. He has worked hard to advance and play at a high level of the sport. As a junior in high school, he suffered a major concussion and was unable to continue playing the sport he loves. He could have just stepped away, but he chose to give back to the game he loved by volunteering as a student coach for our varsity team, teaching youth skaters to play this great game, and also getting involved with reffing hockey. He has been selected to do both the state reffing camp and the districts reffing camps in only a little over a year of reffing.
Away from the world of hockey… Tanner has over 300 hours of volunteering hours with significant needs adults, elderly Alzheimer’s patients, and helping elementary school children with math and reading. All of these while maintaining a 4.0+ GPA taking primarily AP and honors level classes.
Tanner had to step away from playing hockey last year, but he was still very much a part of the team and a respected leader in the locker room. Even though he could not be on the ice with his teammates, he helped develop the younger players and contributed to a successful year.
Tanner is looking forward to going to the ASU W.P. Carey Business School next fall. He has, and continues to be an amazing friend, teammate and asset to his community.
