This young woman has shown tremendous leadership during her career as a member of the Shakopee Girls Varsity Hockey team. Shelby Hennen embraces the values our game teaches- coach-ability, character, commitment, teamwork, and sportsmanship. She is a young woman with integrity who has shown immense commitment to and appreciation for her teammates and coaches. Most impressive, however, is her commitment to serving others. Shelby is an active volunteer in our community. Since 2014, she has participated in Special Olympics as a coach, volunteer, and unified player. She is also an adaptive water ski clinic volunteer and four-year polar plunge participant. Shelby’s extensive altruistic resume also includes coaching for the Shakopee Youth Soccer Association, leading vacation bible school and giving her time to Feed My Starving Children and Loaves and Fishes organizations. At our school she has served as a leader for Link, Great Leadership Opportunities, Prom Committee, and Unified Physical Education. Shelby’s community spirit and leadership make her an excellent recipient of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
