Shane is a Senior at Hatboro-Horsham High School (HH) and the Captain of the Hatters Ice Hockey team. He started his career with the Hatters as a middle school student and it was clear that he possessed the intangibles of leadership desired by coaches, teammates and fans.

Shane has taken an active role in building the program at HH and growing the game in our community; countless hours have been dedicated to Learn to Play Hockey and our own middle school team. Each week you can find him at the rink supporting young players that are honing their craft or just beginning to gain an appreciation and love for our game.

Character. Excellence. A love for the game. Sportsmanship. These values that shaped Hobey Baker are also found in our leader, Shane Mergen.

Success in life, much like success in hockey, demands more than skill alone. It demands a positive attitude, an excellent work ethic, and a will to succeed, no matter the circumstances.
