Sam epitomizes the qualities of the Hobey Baker Award.  He always shows up ready to play hard and give everything he’s got on the ice; he has never strayed from making the game fun. Sam relates easily with all of the players on his team. He has no ego. Constantly smiling and having a good time, Sam is always the first to congratulate a teammate, and the last to lose his optimism. He is encouraging to new and younger players and is a pure example of how to play hockey – passionately, focused, unselfishly and with respect for all. Sam is always friendly with the opposing team and the referees, never having received a penalty for disrespect. Sam maintains a 3.5 GPA while playing hockey for 8 months and holding down a job.
