Sam embodies all the traits we admire in Hobey Baker. As a teammate he is the first player on the ice and last one off. He fills water bottles. He picks up pucks. He looks out for all members of his team both on the ice and off. He has played wing, center and defense. No matter what has been asked of Sam over his high school career he has always put the team first.
Regardless of the position Sam plays the game of hockey from whistle to whistle giving his best each and every shift. Quietly leading by example, both on and off the ice. This is why the Farmington Valley Generals unanimously chose Sam Buchanan as our 2018 Hobey Baker recipient.
