Leonardtown High School | Raiders | BOYS
Robert Floccari started to play ice hockey in high school and after a couple of years skating out, he volunteered to play goalie his Senior season so that his high school could field a team. He purchased pads, went to a summer ice hockey camp where he earned Most Improved honors, and donned the pads for his Senior season, practicing wherever and whenever possible so as to improve his skills and do what he could to help his team. His passion for the game and his enthusiasm served as a motivator to his teammates, and with the added pressure of being the team’s only goalie, he buckled down and hit the books to ensure that his grades would not prevent him from being able to play and that he would not let his teammates down/leave them shorthanded. Robert Floccari’s unselfishishness and willingness to put the team before himself allowed Leonardtown High School to have a team this year, and his sacrifice is commendable and deserves recogintion.
