Nathaniel Duncan
2016 | Maryland | BOYS
Dulaney High School | Lions | BOYS
Nate has played left wing for the Dulaney High School Hockey team for the last two years. During that time, he has been an inspiration to all of his teammates who cheer him on every time he takes to the ice. Nate will be graduating from Woodlawn High School this year as a special needs student. He started his hockey career with the Baltimore Saints (www.baltimoresaintshockey.org) at the age of 12 where he excelled. Although he dearly loved the Saints hockey he wanted to compete at a higher level. Despite being fully aware that high school hockey is full contact and he would be facing more experienced and talented players he started with Dulaney in 2014.
It was a very big accomplishment and required courage that could only be known to Nate to make the leap from special hockey to varsity high school hockey. All of Nate’s teammates recognized his commitment and courage and supported him in the dressing room and on the ice. For two years Nate led through example and reminded players and coaches alike of the role that high school hockey plays in the development of student athletes. I believe this young man deserves the Hobey Baker High School Character Award and I proudly nominate him.
