Matt decided to put on the pads three years ago when it was clear there was no goaltending coming up from the younger grades. He dedicated much time and effort to private training to develop the skills necessary to compete at a high school varsity level. He is a very driven and determined athlete, the kind every coach wishes they could clone and have 19 more of on the bench. His work ethic is untouchable and he is also extremely coachable, a true team leader. He would make many crazy saves during a game to keep us competitive and constantly urge his teammates to give their all to come out on top. He was a terrific mentor to our freshman goalie this year, offering advice and tips at the appropriate time but most importantly instilling confidence in a young inexperienced goalie who looked up to Matt. He consistently rose to the challenge of every competition, never giving up. He would rally his teammates psyching them up prior to warm ups. We will miss him dearly next year but know that he will be successful in all his future endeavors.
