Luke Labre exhibits all of the attributes in consideration for the Hobey Baker High School Character Award, including his ability to provide true leadership on a daily basis. As one of our assistant captains, Luke displayed excellent leadership on the ice, setting a great example for his team mates in both practice and games. In addition to his leadership on the ice, Luke excelled in the classroom as an Honor Roll student athlete obtaining a 3.7429 grade point average. Due to his hard work in the classroom he was also a member of the National Honor Society. Luke is a discipline and powerful defenseman who earned many minutes per game on a regular basis, including powerplay and penalty kill. Luke’s competitive nature and leadership qualities set an excellent example for his team mates, classmates, and younger hockey players in our association. Luke’s overall attitude, love for the game, and character make him an outstanding candidate for the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.

Luke also voluteers time in the community on a regular basis, preparing Thanksgiving dinners for the community in need, our local Lions Club, UPIR Racing Club, Toys for Tots, and as a Moe Buddy at the school providing assistance to younger students.

Luke as been a 4 year player for our program and has become a very good leader for us the past 2 seasons. Luke has earned the team’s defensive player of the year award the past two season, and All Conference Honorable Mention and Academic All-State this past season.
