Lily Hendrikson
2021 | Minnesota | GIRLS
Edina High School | Hornets | GIRLS
Lily has been on the team for 3 years and every year it has been such a pleasure not only getting to know Lily as a person and player, but to watch grow into the young woman she is today. Throughout her time on the team Lily has accumulated one State Championship, All-Conference, participated in USA National Camps, and she is also one of our captains this season. When it comes to Lily, I would describe her as passionate, competitive, hardworking, and fierce but also caring, kind, and loving. Lily is someone that we can count on in every aspect of the game. She may not be the biggest player on the ice, but Lily’s shiftiness, awareness, vision and hockey sense are so strong that she plays like she’s six feet tall. She may go into a corner against someone twice her size, but with her will, determination and skill, 9 times out of 10 Lily will come away with that puck. Lily may “fly under the radarâ€_x009d_ when it comes to some defensemen in the State, but I promise you she should be in the same conversation as those “big namesâ€_x009d_. She is one of the best most consistent defenseman I have ever coached and I trust her on the ice against any top forward in the State. Without Lily on our team, I don’t know how our D Core would be. She may not be flashy, but Lily brings an unbelievable amount of skill and hockey sense that rounds out our team completely. As mentioned, Lily is extremely competitive and so she can be hard on herself when mistakes are made, but what I love is that no matter what she is still entirely coachable even when she’s frustrated. Lily’s ability to lead by example goes unmatched and is such an important piece to our puzzle. She may not be the loudest of the group, but every day Lily exemplifies what it means to be Team First and it has such a positive ripple effect on those around her. She lifts people up in every aspect of life and is such a special person to get to know.
