This letter is to inform you why I chose Jonny Huber to receive the Hobey Baker Award. He is awarded because he demonstrates that character builds excellence. I have coached Jonny for 4 years and seen him transform from a lacrosse player to a fully committed hockey player. He built his character on and off the ice; learning from mistakes and working hard every practice.

His commitment wasn’t only to hockey and his education at DLS but to his friends and family. Jonny showed his strength of character by making players around him better. He did this by teaching and coaching beginner hockey players how to play the game. He attended every community service project in which he didn’t just show up but also left an impact by demonstrating compassion and enthusiasm.

He is a leader to his teammates and his peers at school as he is one of the Captains for the ice hockey team and a leader on the recent Kairos trip. I wish Jonny the best as he moves through his senior year and believe that he will make a difference in society because of his character.
