Joey is an exemplary student athlete. I have watched Joey over the past four seasons grow in both his athletic ability and his confidence. He is extremely focused and competitive. These traits and his achievement personality are the reasons he was elected captain by his teammates. He excels on the ice as well as in the classroom. He averages over a goal a game and last I looked had a plus-minus of +43. He is looked up to as well for his contribution to school. He is an excellent role model and inclusive to all players. He involves our B team players and worked to organize our locker room sharing. He participates in other activities in school and is the player that comes to me about any needs the team or school has. He is early to the rink, helps with youth hockey programs and The Special Olympics. He addresses the coaches and parents as a confident young man, looking them in the eye and speaking his mind.
He drives the team to reach its potential. His leadership is vocal and by example. He is always the first to inspire the team and offers excellent insight with his comments. He is always supportive and positive either on the bench or on the ice. His temperament is balanced no matter the game or score. He has never spoken a bad word towards any opponent or teammate. His focus does a great deal of the hard work for me before games.
Joey is also our comic relief. In all the focus and pressure that we can put on ourselves he has a light hearted almost goofy perspective on the game and reminds us to have fun. Joey has been a captain and leader in every aspect of our team. I offer you a glowing recommendation on his behalf, and thank him for his hard work and perspective.
