The Medfield Warrior Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Team proudly selects Senior Captain Jamie Hollander as the 2019-2020 Season winner of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award. Jamie is hands down everything this award stands for, between her coachability, character, integrity, commitment to the sport and love for her teammates. Without her dedication, the Team would not have had the successful season it did.

Jamie was tasked with a tall order to captain a very young Warrior Team as the lone Senior. She helped to lead the Team to a 11-8-3 season, with an advance in the first play-in playoff game against Bishop Stang. When her teammates were asked what made this season so memorable for them, almost all responded with how close they felt to the Team and how inclusive the captains were. Jamie’s kind spirit and calm demeanor created a safe space for her teammates and cultivated an extremely strong bond between everyone, one that is special and hard to come by. Jamie always does everything with a smile, even in times when situations are dire and unfavorable. This trait will take Jamie extremely far in her life beyond high school and draws many to her as a beacon of hope.

Jamie not only dedicates herself on the ice, but also off the ice as well. She is active in dance, Girls Scouts and band. She also volunteers at the local Learn to Skate, was a CIT at her summer camp and has participated in various other service activities, whether with the school or Girl Scouts. These activities make up the core of Jamie’s character, one that always strives to make those around her better.

Congratulations to Jamie on winning this award. Well deserved and we will miss you!
