Jacob Schwinghammer commits himself to be the absolute best athlete he can be. His “commitment to excellenceâ€_x009d_ channels down from him to his teammates. Jacob is a bona fide leader of young men; he enjoys and relishes the opportunity to be the best possible leader he can become.
There is nothing Jacob will ask from his teammates that he wouldn’t do himself. If it is to work out in the weight room, being the best possible student athlete (4.0) or his efforts out on the ice. Jacob exemplifies leadership whether others are around or not, his thought process is, “it’s the right thing to doâ€_x009d_. Being a leader is a full-time commitment to prepare, lead and inspire others to follow in his footsteps without telling others “watch meâ€_x009d_ or “do what I doâ€_x009d_.
During practice or games, Jacob attentively listens to his coach’s instructions or feedback. Jacob follows instructions and not only vocally speaks to his teammates but abides by the direction of the team by his actions out on the ice to perform by the guidelines or instructions set forth by the coaching staff.
What drives Jacob to be a great athlete only pales in comparison of him to being a better leader and a person of integrity whose valued by his teammates. Jacob demonstrates integrity and draws others to him because he is trustworthy and dependable.
A two-year Captain for the hockey team, lacrosse team and a two-year Captain for football (All-Conference and Conference Defensive Player of the Year).
When our team helps the youth association with “Hockey Day Minnesotaâ€_x009d_, “Bring a Friend to Skateâ€_x009d_ or “Try Hockey for Freeâ€_x009d_, Jacob is not only the first to sign up but makes sure all his teammates are prepared to instruct. He has fun and builds a strong relationship with the young players. Jacob is building a close bond between the youth and the high school hockey team which he has always learned to be a constant within our program.
