Hailey Mattson
2020 | Minnesota | GIRLS
Armstrong/Cooper | Wings | GIRLS
Hailey has embraced adversity in every facet of the game, both on and off the ice. She is the definition of commitment, hard work and integrity. She’s refused to give up, she never complains and she’s been an inspiring leader for all of her teammates.
Hailey was faced with a season ending hip injury during the tryout week of her senior year and left her teammates in tears as she delivered this heartbreaking news during her nomination speech to become a captain. Despite this terrible news her teammates rallied around her and still voted her to be one of our team captains. This is a true testament to Hailey’s character and the kind of person she is. Hailey came to every practice and every game and was the biggest cheerleader for her teammates. She worked extremely hard with her team of medical experts and as a result was actually cleared to play hockey again! Hailey played through the pain and finished the year where she belongs, out on the ice with her teammates.
