Grant Slagle is the epitome of character, work ethic and leadership. I have coached Grant Slagle for two years. During that time he has tallied 143 points. This season he reached some very uncommon milestones, scoring his 100th career goal, 200th career point and had two five goal games which helped our team to a 19-6-3 overall record. After one of those games where he scored 5 goals Grant handed the hardest working player award to another player because it was that young man’s season’s best performance.When a captain who scored five goals recognizes another individual’s accomplishment that is integrity and outstanding sportsmanship. This is a coaches captain and a players captain. He served as one of my assistant captains last year and was my captains this year due to his coachability. Moreover, I have watched this young man play through injuries in order to help his team compete at their best trying to keep the positive mindset of the team as is requested by myself on a daily basis.
There are many talented athletes but Grant also has a 3.9 GPA in addition to playing on his Varsity Lacrosse Team and his Varsity Soccer Team. In addition to his academic and athletic pursuits he has worked as a referee and has a steady part-time job.
