Brendan is a three year member of the FNV Griffins, and I am sure a story unlike any other player nominated. Brendan did not make the team his Freshman year as a Goaltender. With grace and acceptance, he asked what he needed to do to be better to make the team in the future.

As a Sophomore, Brendan still had not fit in to our picture as a Goaltender. With a limited roster, he was offered a spot as a defenseman. His response- whatever I can do to help the team, Coach. Brendan played one season of defense, and was what every Coach would appreciate. He gave his very best with hard work, and always a great attitude. He continued to improve his skills, and was extremely coachable.

For his Junior season, he made our team as a backup goaltender. Once again, in desperation mode with our team shorthanded due to injuries, Brendan offered to fill in on defense, showing great character and passion for his team. Brendan posted a 5-0 record with a 1.99 GAA and .899 Save Percentage with one shutout.

Through all of his perseverance, as a Senior, Brendan earned the starting Goaltender position, and named an alternate captain. He has continued to play with growing confidence, and has been the backstop to our team.

Brendan not only is a great teammate, he is a great son, and brother. At many games, you will see his family attending the FNV Griffins’ games. His dad Mike, mother Andrea, and sister Cassidy. In an unforgiving fashion, his sister Cassidy was born with cerebral palsy. Following his families caring fashion, Brendan is very proud of his younger sister, even on tough days. Brendan is often a large help caring for his sister.

Brendan is what exemplifies team and unity. He shows up to play and compete each and every day, and has fun at it. He truly makes the most of what he has in front of him, and is an absolute pleasure to be around. I could not think of a better story, or person deserving of this award in my 10 seasons of Coaching.
