Ava Gerard is a senior at Duluth Denfeld High School. Being a co-op program between Duluth East and Duluth Denfeld High Schools we are lucky to see players from both schools. But, last season, 2019-2020, Ava was the only player on the team that represented Duluth Denfeld, the year before that there was just three. She has played for the Northern Stars for the past 5 years. At times being the only player from your school on the team could feel isolating. With not seeing your teammates dressed up at school on game days, eating lunch together, or having the same teachers or classes. But, Ava who has primarily player JV over the past 5 years has always represented her school and team with pride. Ava is the player that shows up works hard, is present in the moment and is there to support her teammates. Ava has stepped into a leadership role over the past few years for our JV program and is always encouraging and pushing her teammates to be positive and support one another.
