The Hobey Baker Award family joins the hockey community in morning the great loss of former Minnesota Wild owner Bob Naegele, Jr., who passed away due to complications from cancer Wednesday night in the Twin Cities, with his family by his side. Mr. Naegele lived a life inspired by his State of Hockey roots. He cared deeply about others and was a huge supporter of the Hobey Baker Award, especially how it has positively impacted Division I College Men’s hockey athletes and boys and girls with the Hobey Baker High School Character Award. Even to this day, the partnership with the Minnesota Wild and Hobey Baker lives on because of his legacy. We have certainly lost a dear friend and we will miss him. Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife Ellis, four children, 10 grandchildren and countless friends.
