Senior Riley Peterson embraces the values our game teaches- coachability, character, commitment, teamwork, and sportsmanship. She is a young woman who has shown immense commitment to and appreciation for her teammates and coaches during her career with the Shakopee Girls Varsity Hockey team.

As an athlete, she is versatile; playing wing, center and even defense for our team this year. She is also selfless, determined, and confident on the ice. She truly respects the competition hockey provides.

What also impresses us about Riley is her character off the ice. Riley is a young woman with integrity. She is not afraid to do the right thing, in tough situations, when others aren’t watching and when they are. Her positive attitude and work ethic have been assets to our team. She has met all of our season’s challenges fearless and with optimism, which are essential values of our sport and life.

Riley’s leadership, attitude, and work ethic make her an excellent recipient of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
