It gives me great pleasure to write my nomination for Nate Bilben as a Hobby Baker select candidate.

I have known Nate as a “Rink Ratâ€_x009d_ hockey player for the past three years. He has always spent a great deal of time at the hockey rinks throughout the extended winter months in Northern Minnesota playing the game that he loves.

Having the opportunity of watching him grow into a mature young man, I was able to observe special qualities not usually found in student athletes his age. Nate has an incredible desire to excel in whatever he sets his mind on. He has made representing his school through athletics and academics a priority. Nate is one that understands that commitment and hard work are major attributes of being successful. Those that know him cannot help being impressed with his sincerity and maturity.

Nate has always been a “Natural Leaderâ€_x009d_ both on and off the ice. He has proven himself by his commitment and desire; which has trickled down to his teammates. Nate takes pride in this added responsibility and approaches it in a very serious manner. He has a great understanding of teamwork and appears to recognize the importance of the different personalities and roles that each player brings to the team. Nate is able to capitalize on this understanding of teamwork and is able to utilize this skill set to motivate his teammates.

These special qualities are why I nominate Nate Bilben as the Hobey Baker select for the North Shore Storm.
