Matthew Lawson is a sophomore at Oliver Ames high school and has made quite an impact in his first two years. He is a two sport athlete and was a outstanding leader this hockey season. Matthew exemplifies the qualities of responsibility, respect, and caring. He spends a lot of time off the ice volunteering and working with youth in the community. He is a member of the best buddies club, volunteers at My Brothers Keeper, helped restore the Smith Farmhouse (a home for Veterans with PTSD), and teaches local kids how to skate and play hockey. At school Matthew is a straight A student taking all honors classes. He is a member of DECA and the OA Executive Board. Matthew exemplifies the qualities of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
