Savoring victory is the easy part. Losing with dignity? That’s a trait that comes naturally and a shining example of sportsmanship like James. Coaches and teammates hail this OJR Wildcat senior’s maturity level in good times and bad. As a 4 year Varsity Letterman and senior captain, he witnessed the ups and downs of sport as much as any athlete playing youth sports, however, James has routinely risen to the occasion as a student athlete and provided an example of how to deal with adversity. He makes it easy to root for a kid like James because of his calming manner and team-first mentality. The kid exudes a sense of reliability for the OJR Wildcats Hockey program which has always been an asset to the way he conducts himself. His teammates can trust him to perform at a high level and lead by example week in and week out. Part of that example means becoming more of a vocal leader, which until his senior year was regarded as the strong, quiet type. Now in his final year, he has broken out of his shell and utilized his gifts to inspire others by sharing his enthusiasm with them. That approach has spilled out from the locker room onto the bench during practice and games alike.
