Jaiden Tonucci is a senior captain and four year varsity letter winner for the La Salle Academy Girls’ Hockey Team. As a player, Jaiden has always worked tirelessly on and off the ice to maximize her skills and that has aided her in being a 2-time All State selection on defense. Her greatest asset is her ability to see the game and impact it from the defensive side of the ice. As a senior, Jaiden has assumed the role of team captain and she has embraced this leadership role in a variety of ways and has demonstrated strong character in executing her responsibilities. She is very comfortable communicating with the coaching staff to ensure each player is safe and healthy. Further, Jaiden is very observant and always seems to have her finger on the pulse of the team. She is super supportive and inclusive of all teammates, especially the younger players. Whether it is being sure everyone has a ride to the rink or helping the freshmen defensemen get acclimated to high school hockey, Jaiden ensures that the new players feel like they are an important part of our hockey family. She also has been an active contributor with our community service activities aimed at helping others including volunteering to help future hockey players learn to skate and sponsoring a Make-a-Wish family at Christmas. Jaiden is also very humble and has talked with me about being a good leader and how to help motivate and support her teammates. I appreciate how hard Jaiden works at being a captain and more importantly how important it is for her to be a good friend to all the players on the team. She embraces the challenges of being a good team captain and continues to grow and experiment at being an effective and empathetic leader. Jaiden is a deserving recipient of the Hobey Baker Award and the entire team is honored to have her represent La Salle Academy Girls’ Hockey.
