Gary has represented Chatfield Chargers Varsity Ice Hockey team as a “go toâ€_x009d_ player due to his energy, effort, leadership, and dedication on the ice, on the bench and in the locker room this past season. He is a student of the game and leads by example being one of the most energetic players on the team; he creates video review/writeups of our opponents and is willing to put the team on his shoulders motivating them in tough situations. His focus and drive to meet his individual and team goals, willingness to do what is asked of him, and overall positive attitude is something every coach looks to use as an example for other players to raise their game and team focus as well. During the season Gary has helped as a mentor with the younger teams whenever he can, especially the Mile High Mites program for youths who have never skated before dedicating his time and giving back to the game and community. His patience, dedication and love of the game has had a positive influence on the lives of these young boys and girls around him and has helped grow Chatfield Hockey into one of the best player development organizations in the Denver, CO area. Gary’s character, drive, willingness, and determination to strive for greatness and selflessness toward a team sport and growth of youths in the game allows me without reservation for this recommendation for The Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
