Betsy was chosen for the Hobey Baker Award because she embodies a true team player and captain. She is reliable, committed, kind, coachable and hard working. She is a fantastic active listener and her teammates trust that she always has their best interest at heart. Throughout her time with Pony Hockey, she has earned her teammates respect through doing the little things. Despite knowing she would not be playing every varsity game, she asked if she could dress or stay dressed from the JV games and be on the bench to cheer on her teammates. As coaches, we were delighted she wanted to do that but not surprised because that is her character. Even when the rinks were cold and the days got long, she chose to practice with both varsity and JV and be a constant role model for players on both teams. She is someone that even I, as an adult, look up to.

She is a National Honor Society member, state science fair participant (2019), lettered in academics, a part of the vagabonds, the Stillwater concert choir and received an all-conference choir award. She is the secretary of the student choir board, a varsity tennis member and volunteers for Family Means and the Rotary. She is a Pony Hockey captain and has maintained a GPA of 3.91.

She truly embodies all that the Hobey Baker Award stands for.
