Countdown to Hobey:

Athina Lambros

2022 | New York | BOYS

Clarkstown | Mall Rats | BOYS

We selected this player due to her excellent sportsmanship, commitment to education and extra curricular activities as well as her strong sense of character. Athina was our third string goalie that played sparingly but what stood out in the sportsmanship department was her selflessness and her support of her fellow teammates, specifically goaltenders. She had a great rapport with her fellow players and was just as happy to see them succeed as herself. Regarding her excellence in her studies, some of the classes she partook in included honors English, global history and Spanish. She also managed to take college classes that included Spanish, marketing, psychology and U.S. history and government. Outside of the classroom she was a member of the Social Studies Honor Society, was her class writer and won the award of excellence in fashion and interior design. In her free time she managed to volunteer with various animal groups such as the looking glass and care about the strays and over her summer’s she volunteered as a counselor at vacation bible school. Her strong sense of character can be seen looking no further than the fact that she persevered and enjoyed playing alongside the boys for so many years where she was able to win multiple tournaments, league championships as well as a state title. In the spring seasons she was able to play for a local team who each year raises money for children with cancer. All of these qualities, accolades and attributes are why Ahtina was selected as our Hobey Baker High School Character Award winner for this year.
