Tyler Stephens
2024 | Florida | COED
Palmetto Tigers Hockey Club | Palmetto Tigers | COED
Selecting Tyler Stephens as our Hobey Baker award winner is an honor. He is the epitome of this award. Tyler is a selfless and humble leader of our team. He is not the loudest player I have, but he has consistently been a leader in the classroom and on the ice for his entire 4 years with our team. He makes coming to the rink and coaching worth the efforts. Tyler has been a travel player for our local travel team and spends A LOT of time on the ice each season and it shows in his approach to our games. He carries our team on his back although he is not the leader in points. When Tyler shows up to play you get 100% effort and 100% focus and that doesn’t always show up on the score sheet. Each season I must go through the report cards to make sure our “Student Athletes” are just that, and it is astonishing to see Tyler’s love for academics are not by the wayside. Tyler has an amazing 4.7 GPA as he is involved in ALL the advanced classes in school and as of yesterday, he told me he thinks he wants to attend the University of Florida. It has been a privilege to have had Tyler for the last four years and I think Tyler definitely is someone that boasts all of the traditions of Hobey Baker.
