Central Dauphin Ice Hockey Club is nominating Tyler Russell for the Hobey Baker high school character award for the 2025-2026 CPIHL season. Tyler, a standout player on the varsity ice hockey team since 9th grade, has consistently demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication, even without playing for an outside club team for nearly four years. His combination of athleticism and hockey IQ is remarkable, and he stands out as a positive and humble individual.

Tyler’s commitment to hockey is reflected in his continuous improvement and leadership as captain and points leader for the team. He actively contributes to the sport by volunteering as an ice skating instructor for children and serving as a level 4 AAHA referee since 2020. His performance metrics highlight his growth, but his true value lies in his willingness to listen, learn, and lead by example. Tyler is known for being intellectually sharp, yet he remains approachable and values others’ input.

Tyler exemplifies a strong commitment to excellence in academics and beyond. He was the first non-senior to receive the Gary Houck Jr. Memorial award for leadership, sportsmanship, and skill. Additionally, he has garnered numerous accolades including ASHE Scholarship recognition, College Board National Honors, and top awards in engineering and STEM competitions. With a 4.7 GPA and aspirations as a McDevitt valedictorian, Tyler also runs a 3D printing design company and is a part-time college student.
